The differences in the home screen UI between Android 4.4 KitKat and Android L is not huge, but the small changes seem to refine the UI just that little bit more. Now instead of having the faded black bar at the bottom and the top of the screen in KitKat you do not have this is Android L. The capacitative buttons on Android L have also changed to a more sleek and modern design, it is also more up to date with today's design. The old capacitive buttons were becoming a little bit outdated.
